Hansen Motorsport is proud to confirm its entry into the 2025 FIA World Rallycross Championship today (9 May). This year marks over a decade of World RX action for the family-run team, which has entered every season since the inaugural championship in 2014.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary last month, Hansen Motorsport was founded by rallycross legends Kenneth and Susann Hansen. One of the most successful entities in rallycross, the Swedish squad will be pursuing a fourth World RX Teams’ title and a second Drivers’ title in 2025.

Drivers Timmy and Kevin Hansen will be leading the charge for the Hansen World RX Team this year, as the championship enters an exciting new era.

Under the FIA’s leadership, the 2025 World RX season is set to meet the high expectations of fans around the globe. Embracing a content-first approach, the championship will prioritise free-to-air coverage and digital accessibility. This season also marks the return of the popular time-based qualifying format, favoured by both the fans and World RX teams.

The Hansen World RX Team will continue to run the electric Peugeot 208 cars in the 2025 ‘Battle of Technologies’. This aligns with the team’s proactive approach to sustainability, becoming the first carbon-neutral rallycross outfit without compromising on pace, power, or excitement.

Kenneth Hansen, Team Principal for Hansen World RX Team, said: "We are excited that the FIA are taking over the championship and that we’re sticking with electric this season. With the regulations being adjusted to balance out the difference in performance between the electric and combustion cars, we’re expecting even better racing this year. With the support from Red Bull and all our dedicated sponsors and partners, we’ve got our eyes on that 2025 title."

Emilia Abel, FIA Road Sport Director, added: "We’re delighted to welcome Hansen Motorsport to the 2025 World RX grid. As a founding team, they’ve been integral to the championship from the start, and their return underlines the confidence leading teams have in the FIA’s long term vision for the World RX Championship."

In 2024, the Hansen World RX Team demonstrated impressive consistency and competitive pace, culminating in a strong second-place finish in the Teams’ standings.

Last year’s success was bolstered by standout individual performances, with Kevin securing an excellent second place in the Drivers’ standings. His brother and team-mate, Timmy, also delivered solid results throughout the season, including a fourteenth World RX career victory with a win in Mettet.

The team is already hard at work preparing for the new season, with testing taking place on 20–21 May to perfect the set-up of the Peugeot 208 RX1e cars.

Timmy Hansen, Hansen World RX Team driver, said: "This year’s new format takes us back to what made rallycross special, and the return to timed qualifying should make the Heats even more exciting. We’ve learned a lot from last season, and there were positive signs as we got to grips with the car over the year. The changes the FIA are making look promising, and I think we will have a strong package again this year."

Kevin Hansen, Hansen World RX Team driver, said: "Our company has worked hard to make it to the start line in every World RX season so far and the support from Red Bull has been a crucial part of that. This year the calendar is looking amazing. Round One in Lousada is the perfect way to kick off the season, and it’s always great to return to our home track, Höljes. I’ve come away with silver the last two years – it’s time to go for gold!"

To celebrate Hansen Motorsport’s entry into the 2025 World RX season, a special launch event will take place in Porto, just before the first round at the World RX of Portugal in Lousada (31 May - 1 June).

World RX then heads to Sweden for the ‘Magic Weekend’ at Höljes (5-6 July), followed by trips to Hungary (19-20 July), an exciting new track in Finland (23-24 August), and Türkiye (20-21 September), with the location of the season finale yet to be revealed.
